Thunder Bay, ON–

Playing out of the country on the 4th of July, the St. Cloud Rox made sure they brought their own fireworks to Canada and dominated from start to finish in a 7-1 victory over the Border Cats.

The Rox got things going early, as Jake Farr (Tennesee Tech) led the game off with a single for the Rox. Michael Strem (Boston College) followed a Rox bunt by walking, and the Rox had two runners on with only one out in the first inning. Liam Bedford (Doane College) reached on an error as Farr came around to score, and Joe Tietjen (UNC Asheville) later added a sacrifice fly to give the Rox a 2 run cushion after one inning.

Lucas Gilbreath (University of Minnesota) got the start on the mound for St. Cloud, and followed up the gem from Andrew Clemen (SDSU) last night with a dominant performance himself. Gilbreath went 5 innings, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out seven.

Holding onto a 4-1 lead heading to the fifth inning, John Sansone (Florida St.) lined his second home run of the season over the left field fence to push the Rox lead to four.

St. Cloud opened up their lead even more in the 7th inning, when Liam Bedford lined a double down the right field line to score Brett Pope (Western Carolina) and Michael Strem.

Erik Martinez (California) entered the game in the 8th for the Rox, allowing just one hit while striking out three to secure the victory for St. Cloud.

The Rox moved to 23-15 on the season with the win, making their record a perfect 4-0 in the second half of the season. They'll be in action tomorrow night in Eau Claire to play the Express, as the first pitch is scheduled for 5:05 PM.
