Thunder Bay, ON – In their season series finale with the Border Cats, the Rox fell by a final score of 4-3 in 16 innings at Port Arthur Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
Connor Crane (Mcneese St.) launched a 3-run homer in the 2nd inning to get the scoring started for the Rox. It was Crane's 4th home run of the season, and Webb Bobo (SE Louisiana) and Brett Pope (Western Carolina) scored on the blast.
Brett DeGagne (North Dakota) got the start on the mound for St. Cloud, and threw 4 1/3 innings before he was chased as the Border Cats tagged him for two runs. Robbie Petty (Nicholls St.) came on to finish the 5th, and the Rox managed to hold on to a 3-2 lead.
Thunder Bay would tie things at 3 in the top of the 5th inning, and the game would remain tied all the way until the 16th inning, when the Border Cats scored to win the marathon game.
St. Cloud finished their season series with Thunder Bay with seven wins in eight total games.
The Rox will return home on Wednesday, July 29th as they host the Mankato MoonDogs for a doubleheader. Game one is scheduled to begin at 12:05 p.m. Join us for lunch at the Rock Pile. It will be Youth Day presented by Boys and Girls Club of Central Minnesota.
Game two is scheduled for a 7:05 p.m. start. The National Entertainment Act “Cowboy Monkey” will be at the Rock Pile presented by Ram Trucks and Brandl Motors.
