Rochester, MN—
With their 9-1 victory over the Rochester Honkers combined with the Moondogs upset victory over the Willmar Stingers, the Rox clinched the right to host a home playoff game at Joe Faber Field for the first time in team history.
St. Cloud took a 1-0 lead in the first as Lee Miller (Davidson) came around to score after doubling off the left field fence with one out.
Kyle Serrano (Colorado Mesa) joined in on the offensive fun, blasting his second homerun of the season deep to left to open up a 3-0 Rox lead.
The Honkers loaded the bases in the bottom of the second inning against Rox starter Jesse Anderson (Indian Hills), but Anderson was able to work his way out of the jam with a huge strikeout, followed by a flyout to right field. Anderson threw two shutout innings for the Rox with 2 strikeouts.
After the Rox escaped the bases loaded jam, the Honkers would only manage one run throughout the remaining 7 innings. The Rox would tack on runs in each of the 4th, 7th, and 8th innings.
On the night, Liam Bedford (Doane College) went 2-5 with 3 RBI's. Lee Miller also was fantastic from the plate, going 4-6 scoring 3 of the Rox 9 runs.
Tonight's SC Times player of the game was Florida State Seminole John Sansone. Sansone was 4-5 in the victory, bringing his batting average up to .339 on the season. For more Rox coverage, visit www.sctimes.com
