Rochester, MN—

The Rox used the long ball on Wednesday night to defeat the Rochester Honkers by a final score of 3-1 at Mayo Field.

Connor Crane (Mcneese St.) got the offense going with a solo homerun in the second inning. It was Crane's 5th homer of the season, and second at Mayo Park this season.

Austin Athmann (Minnesota) joined in on the homerun party, as he blasted his fifth of the season to left field in the third inning to hand the Rox a 3-0 lead.

Three runs would be more than plenty for Rox starter Ryan Kokora (Paradise Valley CC) who had his best outing of the season on Wednedsay. Kokora went five shutout innings, surrendering just three hits while striking out six Honkers batters.

Rochester continued to fight, as the Rox led 3-1 heading into the 9th inning when the Honkers had the tying run on first with nobody out. Brian Glowicki (Minnesota) induced a Honkers double play for his first two outs, and Joe Tietjen (UNC Asheville) caught the final out on the warning track as the Rox held on to win their 4th straight game.

Tonight's SC Times player of the game was Austin Athmann. Athmann finished the game 2-4 with 2 RBI's and hit his 5th homerun of the season. For more Rox coverage, visit www.SCtimes.com
