St. Cloud, Minn. – The St. Cloud Rox are moving on in the Northwoods League Playoffs after defeating the Rochester Honkers 4-0 Monday evening at the Rock Pile.
St. Cloud native Reese Gregory (St. Cloud State) threw a complete game shutout for the Rox. In his first playoff appearance, Gregory struck out 10 batters and only allowed three hits.
St. Cloud capitalized on two wild pitches to score their first two runs. Marcus Carson (University of Kentucky) scored on one in the fourth inning and Brett Pope (Western Carolina University) scored on the second one in the fifth inning.
In the fifth inning Lee Miller (Davidson College) worked a 0-2 count to a full count then he drove the next pitch over the right field wall for a two-run home run.
St. Cloud is on a nine game winning streak and an 11 home game winning streak.
The playoff win is the first in Rox history for the team. St. Cloud will play the winner of the Duluth/Willmar game tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. at the Rock Pile in St. Cloud.
