2016 Rox Promotional Schedule Announced

St. Cloud, MN – The St. Cloud Rox are excited to announce their full 2016 promotional schedule.  The schedule is jam packed with amazing fireworks shows, great premium giveaway items, highly entertaining national acts, and specials guests at the Rockpile!

Opening Weekend

Former Major League Baseball All-Star Catcher and World Series Champion Terry Steinbach leads off the Home Opener on Saturday, June 4th.  A Minnesota native and former Minnesota Twins player, Steinbach will throw out the ceremonial first pitch and stick around to sign autographs. The home opener will also include a huge post-game fireworks show and magnet schedule giveaway for all fans, all presented by Coborn’s.

On Sunday, June 5th, the 1st 300 kids 14 and under will receive a 28” youth wood Rox baseball bat courtesy of the St. Cloud Hospital Stroke Center.  It’s also the start of the very popular Coborn’s Kids’ Days.  At every Sunday home game, kids can run the bases and get autographs on the field after the game.

Friday Night Fireworks

After the Rox light it up on the field, Pyrotechnic Display will light up the sky!  After every Friday home game, there will be a fantastic post-game fireworks show. The first Friday Night Fireworks is schedule for June 10th presented by Voigt’s Motorcoach Travel.  The remaining three Friday Night Fireworks will be July 1st presented by SuperAmerica, July 15th presented by A&W Restaurants of Albany, Richmond and Sartell, July 22nd presented by Franklin Graphics, July 29th presented by Kwik Trip and August 12th presented by Texas Roadhouse. There will be a total of seven post-game shows throughout the 2016 season.  

Bobblehead Giveaway

In an offseason vote, Rox fans selected this season’s bobblehead giveaway!  On Saturday, July 23rd, three-time Rox All-Star pitcher Reese Gregory will be honored with his own bobblehead presented by Capital One.  The first 400 fans will receive a token to be redeemed during the game for a bobblehead.

Premium Giveaways 

The promotional schedule includes premium giveaways at twenty games throughout the season including Augie Rodriguez replica jerseys, three special edition baseball caps, batting gloves, dog frisbees, gym bags, baseball cards, piggy banks, umbrellas and two collector’s pint glasses.

Special Events

On Sunday, June 12th families will have the opportunity to go on the field before the game and read with the players before the game as part of Books and Baseball Day presented by Initiative Foundation and United Way. 

The Rox will host the 5th Annual Bark in the Park Night presented by Granite City Pet Hospital on Tuesday, June 21st.  Fans are able to bring their dogs out to enjoy a night at the ballpark with proceeds benefitting the Tri-County Humane Society.

Back by popular demand is the entertaining “Deuces Wild! Dueling Pianos”.  The two comedian/musicians will have fans entertained throughout the games on Thursday, June 30th presented by PreferredOne and Thursday, July 21st presented by Bernick’s.  

There will be two special Rox jersey auctions during the 2016 season.  On Sunday, July 17th in partnership with the Center for Diagnostic Imaging, the Rox will be wearing special pink jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game with proceeds going to American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.  In addition, the Rox will be wearing special camouflage jerseys during the Military Appreciation Day on Sunday, August 7nd presented by Rapid Recovery & Aquatic Center.  The jerseys will be auctioned off during the game with proceeds benefiting the Country Manor Foundation.

The friendly animal inflatables of the ZOOperstars will return to the Rockpile on Thursday, July 28th presented by Plaza Park Bank and Times Media.

Following the game on Tuesday, August 2nd Human Cannonball David “The Bullet” Smith will entertain fans as he launches himself out of a cannon in a post-game show presented by Brandl Motors.

On Thursday, August 11th the Rox are honoring the original Rox teams that played in St. Cloud from 1946-1971 with Turn Back the Clock Night presented by Capital One.  The first 400 fans will receive a Rox Throwback Print and National Baseball Hall of Famer Orlando Cepeda will return to St. Cloud for the first time since he played for the Rox in 1956.

All single game tickets including the home opener will go on sale starting Friday, May 6th at 12:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at www.stcloudrox.com, by calling (320) 240-9798 or at the Rox ticket office located at the Municipal Athletic Complex.

Preparing for its 23nd season of summer collegiate baseball in 2016, the Northwoods League is the largest summer collegiate baseball league in the world with 18 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, more than 140 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (WAS) and MLB All-Stars Chris Sale (CWS), Jordan Zimmermann (DET), Curtis Granderson (NYM), Lucas Duda (NYM) and Ben Zobrist (CHC).
