It was the eighth win for the club in the last 10 contests. St. Cloud improves to 8-6 on the campaign after an offensive outburst that saw 17 hits (one shy of the team’s season high for hits in a game).

The squad was down 1-0 after the first frame and that's when Mark Skonieczny (Illinois) ignited the Rox offense early when he smashed a ball into the left center gap in the top of the second inning. Mason Mamarella (Kent State) also reached base with a single, which advanced Skonieczny to third. Drew Freedman grounded out to second base, but it got a run home and the Rox tied the game 1-1. Then, Trevor Putzig recorded a double in the inning and that scored Mamarella. Brendan Illies also connected on a single and after two innings St. Cloud led 4-1.

Offense did not stop in the third inning. It was Putzig and Illies again who provided a spark in the very next frame. Putzig delivered with a two-out, two-run double and Illies registered a two-run single. Putzig and Illies went a combined 6 for 8 in the game with 6 total RBI’s.

LHP starter Aaron Rozek (Minnesota State – Mankato) earned the win for St. Cloud. The southpaw tossed 5.1 innings, operated around 8 hits while surrendering 4 runs. Over the last four games, the bullpen allowed at least one run in each of the contests. Tonight was different as Chris Martin (Kent State) and Collin Strall (LSU) logged a combined 3.2 innings of relief.

Ricky Ramirez also put on a display tonight with his 6th multi-hit game going 3 for 5 at the plate. Eight of the nine starters in the St. Cloud batting order managed to register at least one hit.
