Rox starter Carlo Graffeo (Southeastern Louisiana) was magnificent in the final regular season contest. The righty tossed a season high 8 solid innings and allowed just 2 runs (both unearned). Graffeo started out on fire as he only yielded one hit in the first 4 innings. The youngster was tested in the 7th inning and stranded two Waterloo runners on base.

The offense was hard to come by for St. Cloud, but the team managed to find enough. Mason Mamarella (Kent State) came up huge in the first inning with a two-out RBI single to score Marcus Carson (Kentucky). In the second inning, Denis Karas (California) clobbered a solo home run and the Rox held a 2-0 lead.

Waterloo climbed back into the contest in the 8th inning. Rox infielder Brett Pope bobbled a ground ball and that allowed the Bucks’ lead off hitter to reach base. Waterloo’s Lane Milligan recorded an RBI single to score the first run and then later the opposition registered an RBI double to tie the game, 2-2.

Rox 1B Michael Strem entered this game with only 2 RBI in his last 14 games, but came up with a clutch base hit in the top of the 10th inning and this proved to be the game winning run.

Chris Martin (Kent State) was the only bullpen arm used for St. Cloud and he was stellar. The righty logged 2 shutout innings to finish off the game. It was his 7th win of the season out of the bullpen, which is a Rox single season record.

LHP Logan Salow (Kentucky) will make the start for St. Cloud in the first round playoff game on Monday. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. from Joe Faber Field.
