La Crosse, WI — Sometimes when it rains, it pours. The Rox did not put together their best game Thursday night in a 16-4 loss to the Loggers. Despite the tough outing there were a few players who managed to have solid days at the plate.
Three players collected multiple hits on the night led by Mason Mamarella (Kent State) with three hits and an RBI tonight. He started the scoring in the top of the 1st inning right after Drew Avans (SE Louisiana) started the game with a walk. Mamarella, the next batter, doubled to Centerfield that scored Avans after he stole his 5th base of the season.
Matt Tarantino (Pacific) had his first game with multiple RBI’s since June 1st after singles in the 4th and 8th innings. Tarantino, who had had just two hits since June 1st coming into today bounced back with his start at second base.
Shane Selman (McNeese State) added the only other RBI tonight, where he singled in the 8th inning to drive in Avans for his second run scored. Selman scored later in the inning following Tarantino’s hit.
Some other notables tonight included Daniel Schneemann’s (BYU) first appearance and hit this summer for the Rox. Cameron Eden (Cal), Cole Krzmarzick (Nevada) and Brendan Illies (North Carolina) also added one hit each.
