Rochester, MN — Wednesday night wasn't the best night for the Rox (25-12), but a day after winning the 1st half title every team –even the best– in a long season is due for one or two tough nights. In a 6-1 loss to the Honkers (17-19), the Rox still did have some good flashes at moments in the game.
Nick Bush (LSU) made his 1st start just a day after joining the team in Duluth. The lefty impressed in his first start since his senior year of high school. He only totaled 3.1 innings pitched on 56 pitchers but proved he could dominate hitters. In that span Bush struck out while only allowing one hit and two walks.
Cameron Eden (Cal) scored the only run tonight after he led-off the 8th inning with a walk. He came in after Cameron Blaquiere (Western Carolina) grounded out in the infield. Michael Busch (North Carolina) also recorded his 3rd double in his last 4 games in the 9th inning but could not reach home.
Keaton Kringlen extended his hitting streak to 8 games after his single in the 2nd inning. Mason Mamarella (Kent State) and Brendan Illies (North Carolina) were the only other players with a hit tonight.
The Rox now head home to start the 2nd half home slate tomorrow night at 7:05 PM. The 1st half champions host the Honkers after their 4 game road trip. There will be a Rox replica jersey giveaway presented by Coborn's, Times Media and 104.7 KCLD to the 1st 400 kids 14 and under in attendance. Following Thursday's home game the Rox hit the road again for another 4 games.
