Mankato, MN — Drew Avans (Southeastern Louisiana) has been the Rox go-to guy night in and night out all season. Surprisingly for the 1st time all year, Avans did not reach base safely in a 5-0 loss to the MoonDogs. It ended at 24 games, but it was a great streak. For a Junior who has hit in the leadoff spot in all but one start this season, couldn't find the magic tonight and Rox hitters had a tough time figuring out Mankato's starting pitcher.
Cameron Eden (Cal) and Keaton Kringlen (BYU) were the only two players to have hits tonight for St. Cloud, and Shane Selman (McNeese State) and Daniel Schneemann (BYU) drew walks.
Aaron Rozek (Minnesota State-Mankato) picked up his 1st loss this year, but besides one mistake in the 1st inning he was pretty much lights outs in his 7th start. The lefty kept the Rox in the game, but the offense had issues producing at the plate.
St. Cloud falls a game behind Waterloo for the best record in the North Division, but finally returns home for a long stretch. After playing 22 of the last 31 games on the road where its record was 11-11, it finally comes home for 4 games before the All-Star break. The Rox host the Express tomorrow for the 1st time all year with the award winning national entertainment act "ZOOperstars" presented by Plaza Park Bank and Times Media.
