St. Cloud, MN – The St. Cloud Rox, the 2017 Northwoods League Champions, announced Thursday the organization has added four position players to the 2018 roster.
Those four players added include catcher Hance Smith, infielders Ryan Davis and Ryan Weisenberg and outfielder Michael Borst.
Smith is a freshman catcher currently playing at Santa Rosa Junior College. The California native, who has committed to playing at University of California-Berkeley next season, has a .299 batting average in 35 games for Santa Rosa, along with 33 runs, 44 hits, five doubles, two triples, six home runs, 26 RBI, 22 walks and 12 stolen bases. He has also appeared in five games on the mound, tallying a record of 1-1 with a 3.38 ERA in 5.1 innings.
Davis, an infielder, is in his sophomore season at Georgetown University. A California native, Davis has tallied a .315 batting average this season for the Hoyas, adding 19 runs, 45 hits, nine doubles, one triple, 18 RBI, 14 walks and 16 stolen bases in 37 games.
Weisenberg is an infielder in his junior year at Georgetown University. The Florida native has recorded a .282 batting average through 33 games in his third season with the Hoyas, along with 13 runs, 31 hits, five doubles, 13 RBI and seven walks. Weisenberg is coming off of being named to the All-Big East Second Team in 2017.
Borst, an outfielder, is in his junior season at Minot State University. He is currently holding a .346 batting average in 37 games, tallying 41 runs, 47 hits, seven doubles, three triples, three home runs, 29 RBI, 17 walks and five stolen bases on the year. Borst is coming off of being named to the All-NSIC Second Team in 2017.
Director of Baseball Operations Augie Rodriguez, Field Manager Al Newman and the Rox organization will continue to build the roster for the upcoming season. To date, the Rox have 19 players signed for the 2018 season. For the complete roster to date, click here.
The Rox will play their 7th season of Northwoods League Baseball in 2018. The home opener at Joe Faber Field is scheduled for Friday, June 1 at 7:05 p.m. against the Mankato MoonDogs.
