St. Cloud, MN – The St. Cloud Rox entered the bottom of the ninth inning down 1-0, needing two runs to try and open the two-game series against the Rochester Honkers with a victory.
Mission accomplished.
The Rox scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth, highlighted by a walk-off single from Ryan Weisenberg (Georgetown) with two outs to come back and beat the Honkers at the Rock Pile.

Bobby Seymour (Wake Forest) began the late-game rally by drawing a lead-off walk. Gus Steiger (South Dakota State), who pinch ran for Seymour, ended up scoring the game-tying run thanks to a RBI single from Michael Borst. After Sean Ross (San Diego State), another pinch runner, advanced to second base with two outs, Weisenberg brought home Ross to send St. Cloud home walk-off winners.
The game was a pitchers’ duel heading into the late-game heroics took place, highlighted by Jack Cushing (Georgetown), who nearly went the distance for the Rox. Cushing, a 2017 Northwoods League All-Star, gave up two hits, one run, two walks and struck out five to earn a no-decision.
Finn Del Bonta-Smith (San Jose State) came in to pitch the ninth inning for St. Cloud, throwing one shutout inning to get the win.
Seymour finished 2-for-3 to lead the Rox at the plate. Borst and Weisenberg each tallied a hit and an RBI, while Landon Stephens (Miami-Ohio) added one hit.
St. Cloud will return to action at 4:05 p.m. on Sunday back at the Rock Pile. The game will be Men’s Health Awareness Day presented by CentraCare Clinic – Adult and Pediatric Urology, where the first 300 guys will receive a Rox gym bag. It is also Coborn’s Kids Day, where kids will have the opportunity to run the bases and get autographs on the field after the game.
