St. Cloud, MN – The St. Cloud Rox secured their second win in a row and fifth victory in the last seven games on Wednesday night in front of a sold out crowd at the Rock pile.

The Rox took down the Mankato MoonDogs 8-4 in front of an announced crowd of 2,424 at the Rock Pile.

St. Cloud got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring two runs to narrow the Mankato lead to just one. The Rox jumped out to a lead in the bottom of the fifth inning, thanks to a six-run bottom half of the inning. From that point on, St. Cloud didn’t let up en route to the win.

The breakout fifth inning was highlighted by a handful of Rox players. Ryan Weisenberg (Georgetown) led things off, getting hit by a pitch that drove in the game-tying run. St. Cloud took the lead on a two-RBI double from Ryan Davis (Georgetown), followed up by another two-RBI double from Ben Carew (Kent State). The inning was capped off by Gus Steiger (South Dakota State), who drove in final run of the inning with an RBI double to left field.

Davis led the Rox at the plate on the night, finishing 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run scored. Connor Aube (Texas-Arlington) went 1-for-4 with two RBI, while Carew finished with two RBI and a run scored. Steiger added one hit and one RBI and Bobby Seymour (Wake Forest) went 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Sergio Esparza (Arkansas at Pine Bluff) pitched one shutout inning and picked up the win in relief of Will Warren (Southeastern Louisiana), who earned a no-decision for the Rox after starting the first four innings on the mound. Evan Johnson (Creighton) threw three stellar innings, with Finn Del Bonta-Smith (San Jose State) closing the door with one shutout inning in the ninth.

St. Cloud will kick off a five-game road trip on Thursday when it returns to action at 7:05 p.m. against the La Crosse Loggers. The Rox will return to the Rock Pile for their next home game on Tuesday, June 26 at 7:05 p.m. That game will be Bark in the Park Night presented by Granite City Pet Hospital, where the first 200 dogs receive a Rox rope toy.
