St. Cloud, MN – After a lengthy road trip that included 12 road games in 13 total contests, the St. Cloud Rox returned home on Tuesday night against the Mankato MoonDogs to open up a six-game homestand.
The Rox came up just short to the MoonDogs, falling 4-3 back home at the Rock Pile.
St. Cloud got off to a hot start in the game, scoring one run in each of the first, second and third innings to jump out to an early lead. Landon Stephens (Miami-Ohio) kicked things off with an RBI single in the first inning, Gus Steiger (South Dakota State) had an RBI single in the second inning and Bobby Seymour (Wake Forest) added an RBI single in the third for the Rox.
St. Cloud fell behind 4-3 in the fifth inning, ultimately coming up just shy of completing the comeback.
Stephens continued to stay hot for the Rox as of late, leading the way in going 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored. Steiger finished 2-for-5 with one run scored and one RBI, Jack Barrie (Northwestern Ohio) went 2-for-4 with a run scored and Ryan Davis (Georgetown) went 2-for-5 for St. Cloud.
Will Warren (Southeastern Louisiana) got the start on the mound, pitching the first 4.1 innings, giving up six hits, four runs while striking out four. Erik Martinez (California-Berkeley) pitched 4.2 shutout innings in relief for St. Cloud, giving up three hits, two walks and striking out seven.
St. Cloud will look to bounce back and continue on in its current six-game homestand with a doubleheader against the Eau Claire Express on Wednesday at the Rock Pile. Game 1 will begin at 12:05 p.m., which will be take your co-worker or client to the ballpark for lunch day. Game 2 will start at 7:05 p.m., which will feature a Rox Baseball Cap Giveaway presented by Franklin Outdoor Advertising. The first 250 fans into the stadium will receive a Rox baseball cap.
