Willmar, MN – St. Cloud (16-18) scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning but their late-game comeback fell short against the Willmar Stingers. Both teams combined for eight hits in the game.

Bobby Seymour (Wake Forest) led the charge in the top of the ninth inning as he put the Rox on the board for the first time in the game. His one-out single to right field scored Ryan Davis (Georgetown) from second base. Connor Aube (UT-Arlington) later doubled down the left field line and scored Landon Stephens (Miami-Ohio) and Seymour. The rallied ended shortly after.

Gus Steiger (South Dakota State), Landon Stephens, Bobby Seymour (2), Ricardo Sanchez (Arkansas Pine-Bluff), Connor Aube (2), and Ben Carew (Kent State) all registered base hits in the game.

Kenny Saenz (BYU) made the start on the mound and struck out seven batters in five innings pitched. Sergio Esparza (Arkansas Pine-Bluff) and Jake Stevenson (Minnesota) made appearances out of the bullpen. It was Stevenson’s season debut.

St. Cloud now travels to Bismarck, North Dakota for a two-game series against the Larks. They’ll return to the Rock Pile on Thursday, July 5th against Duluth. There will be postgame fireworks as the Rox continue celebrating Independence Day.
