St. Cloud, MN – After winning two games in a row coming off of sweeping the Waterloo Bucks on Friday and Saturday, the St. Cloud Rox opened up a two-game series against the Duluth Huskies on Sunday afternoon at the Rock Pile.
The Rox fell to the Huskies 10-7 in 10 innings on a sunny day at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud.
After scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning, St. Cloud jumped out to a three-run lead in the bottom of the sixth thanks to a four-run half of the inning. The Rox added one run in the bottom of the seventh, eventually going to extra innings with the Huskies. Duluth scored three runs in the top of the 10th inning to come away with the victory.
Landon Stephens (Miami-Ohio) went 1-for-3 with three RBI and Bobby Seymour (Wake Forest) went 4-for-5 with two RBI to lead the way for the Rox. Ryan Davis (Georgetown) went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and one RBI, while Connor Aube (Texas at Arlington) went 1-for-4 with one run scored and one RBI.
Kenny Saenz (BYU) started the game on the mound for the Rox, pitching five innings on the hill. He gave up four hits, two walks and struck out six to earn a no-decision. Jake Stevenson (Minnesota) pitched 2.1 innings in relief, giving up two runs while striking out two. Landon Clifton (LSU Eunice) pitched 1.2 innings in relief, while Spencer Mraz (Miami-Ohio) pitched the final inning on the mound for St. Cloud.
The Rox are back in action at 6:35 p.m. Monday taking on the Duluth Huskies in Duluth. St. Cloud returns home for a three-game starting Tuesday night, when the Rox host the Waterloo Bucks at 7:05 p.m. at the Rock Pile.
