Every week during the offseason, we will pick a former St. Cloud Rox player who is excelling in the minor or major leagues as the Player of the Week.

This week, it’s Ben Meyer, a right-handed pitcher who played in St. Cloud during the 2012 season. Meyer, who is 25 years old, is currently playing in Major League Baseball for the Miami Marlins.

During the past week, Meyer made one appearance on the mound for the Marlins, throwing one shutout inning in relief. He gave up just one hit during that outing to earn a no-decision. So far this season, Meyer has made 13 relief appearances for Miami, pitching a total of 19 innings while recording nine strikeouts.

Meyer, who was drafted by the Marlins in the 29th round of the 2015 MLB Draft, appeared in eight games during the summer of 2012 for the Rox. The 2012 Opening Day starter finished with a 2-2 record, striking out 15 in 25 innings of work for St. Cloud.
