St. Cloud, MN – The St. Cloud Rox announced today that five additional players from the 2019 roster will return to the organization for the upcoming season. The returners include catcher Jack Kelly, pitchers R.J. Martinez, Blake Stelzer and Cam Kline and infielder Tyler Finke.
Kelly is a junior catcher at the University of Minnesota. In 37 games in 2019 he tallied 40 base hits including seven doubles, a triple and three home runs. Kelly finished the season with a .303 batting average, 28 runs scored and 23 runs batted in. In August he was selected to participate in the Major League Dreams Showcase.
Martinez, a junior left-handed pitcher from Minot State University, pitched in 13 games for the Rox last season, making 10 starts. He finished the season with a 6-2 record while posting a 3.64 earned run average. In 64.1 innings pitched, Martinez had a team high 56 strikeouts. He selected to represent the Great Plains Division in the Northwoods League All-Star Game and was also named a Northwoods League Postseason All-Star.
Stelzer is a senior right-handed pitcher at Concordia University-St. Paul. He pitched in relief during 22 games for the Rox during the 2019 season. Stelzer finished the season with a 3-1 record while posting a 2.19 earned run average. In 37 innings pitched he finished with a team high five saves while striking out 41 batters.
Kline, a junior right-handed pitcher at Minnesota State University-Mankato, started five games on the mound for the Rox last season. He threw 32.2 innings while finishing with a 2-1 record and a 3.30 earned run average. Kline struck out 26 batters while only walking three.
Finke is a sophomore infielder at Southeastern Louisiana University and returns to the Rox after playing in 20 games last season. He collected 11 hits including a double and triple. Finke had seven runs batted in and stole eight bases in 2019.
In total the Rox now have seven players returning for the 2020 season. Field Manager Augie Rodriguez and the Rox organization will continue to build the roster for the upcoming season.
