The 2022 Northwoods League All-Star game was held in Wisconsin, WI on Tuesday, July 19th and the Rox were well represented. The Rox had a league-high seven (7) All-Stars on the Great Plains team and was also coached by the Rox Coaching staff of Brian Lewis, Nick Studdard, and Alex Cox.
Charlie Condon batted fourth for the Great Plains. Condon had the best night at the plate by any player on both teams, which earned him NWL All-Star MVP. Condon went 3-3 with two (2) home runs, two RBI’s, and a walk. He was also perfect in the field with a 1.000 fielding percentage. The night before, Condon competed in the NWL Home Run Derby, where he hit 12 home runs, the third most in the competition. Otto Kemp was the NWL All-Star MVP last season for the Rox.
Brice Matthews also competed in the Home Run Derby the night before, where he hit seven (7) home runs to help the Plains defeat the Lakes. Matthews started the game at second base and went 1-2 at the plate with a run scored. He was also perfect in the field with a 1.000 fielding percentage.
John Nett was the lead-off batter for the Great Plains, where he had two plate appearances.
Trevor Austin batted in the nine spot for the Great Plains. He had two plate appearances and was able to get an RBI. Austin was also perfect in the field.
Hunter Day started on the mound for the Great Plains. He pitched a perfect inning facing three batters and striking out one.
Chase Grillo came in for the Great Plains in the ninth inning and was able to get the save, striking out the final two batters he faced. Grillo leads the league in saves.
