The St. Cloud Rox Project S.A.V.E. Foundation and the St. Cloud Area School District 742, jointly announced today the launch of a brand new Rox Fitness Program that will initially be geared to nearly 2,000 students in grades 3-4-5 in seven of the district’s elementary schools.
The program will run for three consecutive weeks beginning Monday, March 6th and conclude on Sunday, March 26th. It will challenge the students to perform a fitness activity away from school for a period of 20 minutes each day. This is a daily goal assigned by the student’s physical education teacher at their school.
The program, which has adopted the theme ‘Where You Are and Whenever you Go, Fitness is Within Reach’ provides each of the students with a list of suggested activities that could be performed indoors at home, outdoors (weather permitting), and even at some of the participating recreational support sponsors. The students will also receive a weekly fitness activity calendar that they will be responsible for recording their daily progress and have validated by a parent before returning it to their P.E. teacher at the beginning of each school week after the program starts.
“The Rox new Fitness Program was created simply to inspire kids to become more active away from school and show them how daily fitness activities can actually help them learn more about setting goals, meeting challenges, improving their coordination, and confidence, which can all help lay the groundwork for developing a healthier lifestyle in the future,” said Jim Loria, Chief Administrator of the Rox Project S.A.V.E. Foundation.
Project S.A.V.E. wishes to acknowledge the support of AirMaxx Trampoline Park & Warrior Course, Granite City Jump, Skatin’ Place, and St. Cloud Area Family YMCA. Along with the Rox Baseball Club, close to $70,000 in total prize values has been donated that will be used for weekly incentives and grand prizes in helping the students stay extra motivated during the entire 21-day program.
The following St. Cloud area elementary schools will take part in the Rox Fitness Program: Clearview, Discovery, Kennedy, Lincoln, Madison, Oak Hill, and Westwood.
