St. Cloud, MN – Former Rox infielder Michael Busch made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut on Tuesday, April 25th for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Busch started the game as the designated hitter for the Dodgers where he went 1-3 with a run batted in (RBI) and a walk.
During his time with the St. Cloud Rox, Busch showcased his impressive skills and helped lead the team to a Northwoods League Championship in 2017. He batted .290 with six home runs, 20 RBIs, and 15 doubles in 45 games, earning him recognition as one of the top prospects in the Northwoods League.
In 2019, Busch was drafted 31st overall in the first round by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Since then, Busch has moved his way up the ranks in the Dodgers Minor League system. In 2023, he was ranked as the Dodgers number three overall prospect, second best second baseman prospect in Minor League Baseball, and 54th overall best prospect. This season for the Oklahoma City Dodgers, the Los Angeles Dodgers Triple-A Affiliate, Busch has a .337 average and with an on base percentage of .461. He has 16 RBI with 17 runs scored.
Busch is the 319th Northwoods League Alumni to make their debut and 35th player to make their MLB Debut from St. Cloud, the most in the Northwoods League.
The Rox will return in 2023 for their 12th season of Northwoods League baseball. The home opener is scheduled for June 2nd versus the La Crosse Loggers presented by Coborn’s. There will be a huge post-game fireworks show.
