ST. CLOUD – The St. Cloud Rox (4-1) ran away with a victory in their home opener at Joe Faber Field against the La Crosse Loggers, Friday, June 2nd. The Rox scored all of their 13 runs in the first five innings. 

St. Cloud scored four in the 1st frame, with RBI singles from Ethan Navratil (St. Cloud State), Nathan Rose (Bowling Green), and Kyle Jackson (Kent State), all in the same inning. Kyle Jackson got on base three times in his Rox debut.

In the 2nd inning, the Rox scored another seven runs, totaling three hits and three walks in the high-scoring inning. Rose dropped a grand slam in the inning, the first of the year for St. Cloud. 

Ike Mezzenga (Minnesota) joined the hit party in the third with an RBI double himself. Mezzenga reached base four times in the evening against the Loggers. 

Meanwhile, Hunter Day (Tarleton State) got the nod as the Rox home opener’s starting pitcher. The RHP out of Texas conjured a win with a solid 6.0 IP, striking out four batters, only allowing three runs.

Hunter Day earned his first victory of 2023. Alex Ramos (Golden West College) came in relief and struck out three. Jacob Burcham (Tarleton State) struck out one in the 9th inning to earn the game finished. 

Nathan Rose stood out with a 3-4 day, totaling 5 RBI’s.

Today’s All Star Trophy and Awards All Star of the game is Nathan Rose!

The Rox look to repeat the same victory tomorrow as they prepare for a 6:35 pm first pitch for game 2 against the LaCrosse Loggers. Tomorrow’s the Rox Salute-to-Service Saturday, where the first 75 active Military Members or Veterans with valid ID or Military discharge papers who purchase a ticket to the game will receive a Rox hat. It’s also going to be umbrella giveaway night, where the first 300 fans get a free Rox umbrella by our partners Auto-Owners Insurance, and North Risk Partners.
