WILLMAR, MN – The St. Cloud Rox (7-2) took game one over the Willmar Stingers (5-2), with an 11-1 final score, Tuesday, June 6th. They took sole possession of first place in the Great Plains West division in the process, now earning a 0.5 game lead. 

The winning pitcher was Piercen McElyea (Tarleton State), who’s now 2-0. The right handed junior twirled a gem, holding the Stingers hitless through 5.0 innings pitched. He finished the ballgame with 6.0 innings, only allowing one hit, and no earned runs on the night.

Jackson Hauge (Minnesota State – Mankato) stood out the dish Tuesday, going 4-5. He collected 3 RBI’s in the evening, going 4-5, with three singles. His second hit of the afternoon was a two-run homerun in the 3rd inning, his first in 2023. Ripken Reese (Kent State) finished 2-4, collecting an RBI as well. Lincoln Berry (North Iowa Community College) drove in two RBI’s as well, with a single in the 5th.

Owen Marsh (St. Thomas) and Brady Posch (Tarleton State) closed the win in relief, combining for 3.0 innings, allowing only one run. Marsh struck out two, while Posch got one – his first of the season. The Rox collected a season high 12 hits tonight, while totaling nine strikeouts as a pitching staff.
