BISMARCK, ND – The St. Cloud Rox (25-14) won game one of a two-game series against the Bismarck Larks (18-21) with a 7-4 final score, Saturday, July 8th. The Rox sit in first place in the Great Plains West division during the second half.
The starting pitcher for St. Cloud was Cade Lommel. Lommel worked through 5.1 innings pitched in his 7th appearance for the Rox, with a career-high eight strikeouts. Lommel has 25 strikeouts through 26.0 innings of work this season.
Jackson Hauge extended his eight-game hitting streak in the victory, reaching base five times overall. Hauge had a double and two singles, scoring twice and batting in a run. John Nett had a loaded day, reaching base four times, scoring three times, and stealing two bases. Nett’s 12 stolen bases this season are tied for the team lead, and his 26 runs scored rank third. Sawyer Smith reached base three times and had three RBI, scoring two runs in the 1st inning to give St. Cloud an early lead.
Alex Ramos made his 10th appearance for St. Cloud, with 1.2 innings pitched with a strikeout. Ramos has tallied 14 strikeouts this season. Mason Olson worked the Rox through the 8th and 9th innings, tallying four strikeouts. The Rox pitching staff totaled 13 strikeouts in the victory.
