ST. CLOUD, MN – The St. Cloud Rox (28-17) dropped game one of a two-game series against the Duluth Huskies (24-21) with a 5-3 final score, Saturday, July 15th. The Rox sit in first place in the Great Plains West division during the second half.

The starting pitcher for St. Cloud was Cade Lommel. Lommel worked through 5.0 innings, striking out two batters and giving up just two earned runs. Over eight appearances this season, Lommel has 31.0 innings pitched with a 3.48 ERA and 27 strikeouts.

Haiden Hunt reached base three times in his second start for St. Cloud, with three stolen bases and a run scored. Ripken Reese scored two runs off a single in the 2nd inning and has totaled eight RBI this season. John Nett had a hit and a walk, extending his reached base streak to 15 games. Nett also tallied an RBI, his 18th of the season.

Garrett McLaughlin was the lone arm out of the bullpen for St. Cloud, pitching 4.0 innings, striking out two batters and giving up two earned runs. McLaughlin had an efficient final 3.0 innings, facing the minimum in each inning. This season, McLaughlin has 19.1 innings pitched and 15 strikeouts over 11 appearances.

St. Cloud will head on the road tomorrow, Sunday, July 21st for a 3:05 pm first pitch in the final game of the series versus the Duluth Huskies.
