  1. Tyler Reidy Wins Northwoods League Announcer of the Year

Tyler Reidy of the St. Cloud Rox was named the 2024 Northwoods League Baseball TV Announcer of the Year for the Great Plains Division. 

Reidy, a junior at the University of Notre Dame joined the St. Cloud Rox for the 2024 season, arriving at St. Cloud with accolades such as being named an honorable mention All-American for the Jim Nantz Award, being recognized as one of the top collegiate broadcasters in the country.   

Reidy was selected as part of the broadcast team for the 2024 Northwoods League All-Star Game, as well as the Northwoods League Great Plains Playoffs.  

The Northwoods League experienced a significant increase in viewership throughout the 2024 season. The League continued to partner with ESPN+, streaming over 170 games on the platform this season. The Northwoods League also developed its inaugural 24-hour ‘FAST’ channel called the Northwoods League Network, which broadcasted live games, replay games, as well as producing shows that centered on the League and its players. The League saw over two million unique viewers tune in for its live games during the season and totaled over five million unique viewers to its live games, replay games, as well as shows that were created for the 2024 season.

In addition to games on ESPN, the Northwoods League offered its streaming service free to the viewing public once again in 2024, which included games streamed live, on-demand, as well as League-focused shows for additional viewership. Fans can watch Northwoods League games on their own televisions using Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV Stick, Roku, and Android TV, in addition to being able to watch them on their PC, mobile device or tablet.

  1. Jackson Hauge & Ben Higdon Break Home Run Record

The St. Cloud Rox had one of their best-hitting seasons in team history in 2024. They set the team record in runs scored (494), home runs (66), runs batted in (455), OBP (.391), SLG(.401), and OPS (.791).

A highlight of those records was a single-season individual record that has stood since 2013. Adam Martin had ten (10) home runs that season that has stayed put for over ten years. Jackson Hauge tied the record on July 20th and then broke it five days later on July 25th. He finished the season with twelve (12) on the season. Later on in the season, Ben Higdon got hot and hit his twelfth (12) home run in the playoffs in game three against the Willmar Stingers that the Rox won 6-0.

  1. Tyler Bishop Sets On-Base Game Record

Tyler Bishop was one of the top hitters in the Rox lineup in 2024. Bishop was a Northwoods League All-Star in 2024 and played for 61 games for the Rox, including playoffs. He was able to get on base safely in 59 of the 61 games, including 47 straight games to end the season. 

  1. Rox Win The Great Plains Second-Half Championship

The St. Cloud Rox punched their ticket to the Northwoods League playoffs for the fifth straight season and eighth time in nine full seasons (2020 shortened year) by winning the Great Plains West Second-Half Championship. This marks the fifth time the Rox have won the Great Plains West Second-Half Championship to go along with their three Great Plains West First-Half Championships.

The Rox would go on to host the Northwoods League Great Plains Championship for the third time in four years.

  1. Charlie Condon Becomes Highest Northwoods League Draft Pick

The Colorado Rockies selected former St. Cloud Rox first baseman and outfielder Charlie Condon with the third overall pick in the 2024 Major League Baseball Draft. With his selection, Condon becomes the highest-drafted player in Rox & Northwoods League history and joins Will Craig (2016), Michael Busch (2019), and Brice Matthews (2023) as first-round picks with Rox playing experience. He is the 87th former Rox player drafted since 2012.

Condon suited up with the Rox in 2022, posting a Northwoods League All-Star caliber season. In 61 games, he accumulated 71 hits, a team-high 68 runs batted in, a team-leading 18 doubles, 24 walks, and seven home runs with a team-high total of 248 at-bats. Condon’s hit and home run totals ranked second among Rox players in 2022, and his 3-for-3, two-home run performance at the All-Star Game earned him the game’s Most Valuable Player honor.

Leading into this year’s draft, Condon became the first player at the University of Georgia and the Northwoods League to win the Golden Spikes Award, which is awarded annually to the top amateur baseball player in the United States. Condon broke the BBCOR era’s single-season record with 37 home runs while leading the NCAA in batting average (.433), slugging percentage (1.009), total bases (233), and OPS (1.565). A consensus All-American selection, Condon also captured the Dick Howser Trophy, the Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award, SEC Player of the Year recognition, SEC Freshman of the Year, and Player of the Year honors from Baseball America and Perfect Game.
