ROX BRING THE “POP”

The Rox have picked up right where they left off in the power department this year. St. Cloud has already smashed five long-balls since the season began on Monday, led by Austin Haley who has two, and capped of last night with a no-doubter to left. Grant Sommers added a three-run shot as well as part of a five RBI night for the Nebraska-Omaha Maverick. The Rox lead the Northwoods League with 5 home runs, and sit second in the league in total extra-base hits.

BULLPEN BONANZA

Rox pitching has been phenomenal to start the year. St. Cloud sits atop the league in team ERA and is second in total strikeouts. The Rox bullpen last night was nearly perfect. The bullpen struck out eight batters in their nine innings of work. John Hughes threw four scoreless innings out of the bullpen. The night was  capped off by Carter Mick throwing five K’s on the board including a three strikeout inning on just ten pitches.

PROBABLE STARTERS (SUBJECT TO CHANGE)

STC- The Rox will have Riane Ritter on the mound. He will be the second St. Thomas Tommie to start this series vs Bismarck and he had a great freshman season in Mendota Heights. Ritter corralled 63 strikeouts in 64 innings this spring and had an ERA of 4.08. He was the 12th ranked RHP in the 2024 MN high school class according to Prep Baseball Report. During his time with the Utica Blue Sox, he twirled a 2.88 ERA in 25 innings pitched with 26 K’s.

BIS- Joe Turner gets the ball for Bismarck tonight. He has been used all over the diamond, primarily as a designated hitter and pitcher at USC-Beufort. This past spring, he pitched in 14 games, where he held an ERA of 6.35. He has struggled to find the zone in his college career, having walked 19% of the batters he has faced, including giving free bases to 45 batters while only striking out 33 during his time in the NWL with Royal Oak last season.
