ABOUT LAST NIGHT

In what has been the game of the year to this point, the Rox both played in their first extra-innings game of the year, and picked up their first walk-off victory on the same day.

St. Cloud would be in a hole early, trailing 2-0 in the fifth. Matthew Maulik picked up his first hit of the season and was on third with a chance to score. The Rox pulled off their signature double-steal on the bases to break through and make it a 2-1 ballgame.

Carter Jorissen would tie it, but after Mankato momentarily grabbed the lead, Nolan Geislinger would score on a fielders choice to tie it at three.

Mankato would score the ghost-runner in the 10th, but then the bases would be loaded for Cayden Gaskin with a chance to win it.

Gaskin would drill the ball to right-center field and bring home both Ethan Gibson, and Austin Haley to win the game 5-4 for the Rox.

STRONG START FOR THE STAFF

It’s no secret that the Rox pitching staff has been very good to begin the season. Under first-year pitching coach Cayden Taylor, the Rox lead the Northwoods League in strikeouts (159), ERA (2.57), WHIP. (1.23),  FPS% (60.1%), and K/9 (10.76).

PROBABLE STARTERS (SUBJECT TO CHANGE)

STC- Riane Ritter gets the start tonight for the Rox, and in his time thus far, he has impressed. Ritter has picked up 13 strikeouts in 10.1 innings this season and has an ERA of 1.69. In his last start, he went five innings of one-run ball while picking up seven punch outs vs the MoonDogs.

MAN- Matthew DesMarets will get the ball for the MoonDogs tonight in what will be his first appearance of the season. He had a 2.90 ERA in 80.2 innings this past season with LaVerne. He struck out 98 and walked 34 in his time on the mound.
