HEY NOW, YOU’RE AN ALL-STAR
The First-Half Great Plains West Champion St. Cloud Rox are set to have a league-leading five players represent the Great Plains Division in the All-Star game taking place in Madison, Wisconsin.
St. Cloud is led on the mound by Jake Burcham (Tarleton State University). He is currently 5-1 with a 1.57 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 34.1 innings.
Joining Burcham is another NWL veteran in Brandon Jaenke (Viterbo) making his second All-Star appearance.
Carter Jorissen (Cal State Bakersfield), JP Robertson (University of Mississippi) and Austin Haley (Kansas State) have also made the cut to join the 2025 All-Star roster.
St. Cloud Field Manager Nick Studdard and his staff will manage the Great Plains All-Stars with the best first-half winning percentage in the Great Plains Division (.758). Nick Studdard is in his second season as the Rox Field Manager, and his fifth overall with the team. This is the third time Studdard will be coaching at the Northwoods League All-Star Game, as he was part of the Great Plains All-Star coaching staff in both 2021 and 2022. This is his first All-Star coaching nod since becoming St. Cloud’s Field Manager. Pitching Coach Cayden Taylor is in his first season with the Rox and has overseen the pitching staff, which is at the top of the league in both ERA and strikeouts. Hitting Coach Logan Lawrence, also in his first year with St. Cloud as the Rox stand second in the league in home runs and have scored 10 or more runs in 10 contests this season.
LAST TIME OUT
The St. Cloud Rox (28-12) defeated the Bismarck Larks (13-30) 5-2 on Monday and earned a victory to start a three-day home stand.
The Rox started the scoring early, with Nolan Geislinger (Iowa Western CC) reaching home in the bottom of the first inning to give the Rox a 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the third, a two-run single from Augusto Mungarrieta (University of Kansas) would give the Rox the lead back at 3-1.
On the mound, starting pitcher Hunter Day (Minnesota State University) would deliver seven innings, allowing just two runs from Bismarck with four strikeouts in his outing.
The Rox found the long ball in the seventh, with Tyson LeBlanc (University of Kansas) sending a two-run homer over the left field wall to extend the Rox a 5-2 advantage.
Brandon Jaenke (Viterbo University) closed out yet another ballgame on the bump, earning his league-leading ninth save of the season to secure a Rox 5-2 victory.
PROBABLE STARTERS (SUBJECT TO CHANGE)
STC- All-Star Jake Burcham will start game two for the Rox. This season, he holds a sparkling ERA of 1.57 with 31 strikeouts, 17 walks, and 19 hits across 34.1 innings. He has allowed just two runs in his last 23 innings pitched with 22 punchouts across those frames.
BIS- Ryan Radkey will be making his eighth start of the season in game two vs St. Cloud. Radkey holds an ERA of 2.09 across 43 innings with 22 strikeouts, 13 walks and has only allowed 34 hits. This will be Radkey’s fourth start vs St. Cloud this season. Against St. Cloud, his ERA sits at 2.65 across 17 innings where he has allowed five earned runs with seven strikeouts and four walks. His last start vs St. Cloud spanned six innings where he surrendered four runs. The big hit in that contest was a three-run blast by Joshua Dykhoff.
