ST. CLOUD, MN – The St. Cloud Rox (36-17) completed a sweep of the Rochester Honkers (14-43) with a 5-2 victory on Wednesday.
St. Cloud scored first in the contest, with Joshua Dykhoff (University of Minnesota-Crookston) reaching home to give the Rox a 1-0 lead.
The Rox answered again in the bottom of the fourth, with Ethan Gibson (Virginia Tech) bringing in a run on a fielder’s choice to make it 2-0.
St. Cloud added to the lead further in the fifth, taking advantage of defensive miscues by Rochester to score three runs and extend the score to 5-0.
On the mound, Starting Pitcher JJ Hollis (University of California) gave an incredible performance, throwing seven complete innings while allowing just one run with six strikeouts on the night.
The Rox ended the ballgame on top 5-2 and finished a season sweep of Rochester.
The All-Star Trophy and Awards Star of the Game was JJ Hollis.
