ST. CLOUD, MN – The St. Cloud Rox (40-26) fell to the Mankato MoonDogs (34-33) 9-6 on Wednesday and will continue the four-game homestand at Joe Faber Field on Thursday.
The Rox have clinched the best regular-season win percentage in the Great Plains West, which means the Rox have home-field advantage in a best-of-three series against the Willmar Stingers to open the postseason. The first playoff game at Joe Faber Field will be on Monday, August 10th, and you can purchase playoff tickets here.
The Rox scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 3-1 lead, with two coming home on a double from Jaixen Frost (University of Iowa).
St. Cloud extended the lead in the bottom of the third with an RBI double from Colton Rother (University of Kansas), and Rother later reached home on a fielder’s choice to make the score 5-1 in favor of the Rox.
Later in the game, Aidan Mouton (University of Kansas) smashed the ball over the left field wall for his first home run of the season, and his third hit of the game.
Ultimately, the comeback effort fell just short, but St. Cloud will have the chance to win the regular-season series against Mankato on Thursday in game two of a four-game homestand to end the regular season.
The All-Star Trophy and Awards Star of the Game is Aidan Mouton.
The next Rox home game is Thursday, August 6th, at 6:35 PM against the Mankato MoonDogs, presented by Treasure Island Resort & Casino. It will be Baseball Bingo Night, where fans will receive a baseball bingo card at the gate for their chance at winning great prizes. It is also Special Olympics Minnesota Night.
