ST. CLOUD, MN – The St. Cloud Rox (8-3) took game one over the Waterloo Bucks (4-7), with an 3-2 final score, Thursday, June 8th. They sit in second place in the Great Plains West division, now just a 0.5 game behind the Willmar Stingers (6-2).

The winning pitcher was Jake Burcham (Tarleton State), his 1st win of the season. The right-handed pitcher made his 5th relief appearance of the season in the 9th inning, putting down the final two batters of the inning.

Brady Prewitt (Colorado State-Pueblo) plated the first run of the day with an RBI double for St. Cloud, going 1-3. He picked up his 5th RBI of the season. John Nett (St. Cloud State) put the game-winning run on-base with his two-out double in the 9th. Nett also completed an 8-2 double play to get the Rox out of an 8th inning jam. Ben Vujovich (St. Thomas) was the hero in St. Cloud’s 8th win of the year, knocking a single into center field to score Nett as the game-winning run.

Tyler Curtis (Colorado State-Pueblo) carved up the Bucks in a 7.1 inning starting performance, giving up just four hits and two earned runs, striking out one batter. Alex Ramos (Golden West College) was the first pitcher to come out in relief, throwing an inning and posting a zero on the scoreboard. The Rox offense mustered up six hits in the final three innings, giving up just four hits as a pitching staff over the entire game.

The Rox return to the Rock Pile tomorrow – Friday, June 9th, for a 7:05 pm first pitch against the Waterloo Bucks.
