ST. CLOUD, MN – The St. Cloud Rox (13-6) took game one of the series against the Bismarck Larks (8-11) with a 2-1 final score, Saturday, June 17th. In the Great Plains West division, the Rox sit among the top teams in the division.
The winning pitcher for St. Cloud was Tyler Curtis. Curtis pitched another gem, this time in relief. Curtis threw 6.0 innings, striking out eight batters, giving up just one hit and no runs. The right-handed pitcher has thrown 20.1 innings over three appearances this season, with a 1.77 ERA and 17 strikeouts.
Albert Choi gave the Rox their first hit of the day. Choi now has hits in back-to-back games. Ike Mezzenga showed off his plate vision once again, walking three times in the Rox victory. Mezzenga leads the league in walks drawn, with 22. St. Cloud’s offensive rally came in the 8th inning, loading the bases with no outs. Ben Vujovich and Jackson Hauge crossed home plate for St. Cloud, the tying and go-ahead runs.
Wes Burton started the day for St. Cloud, working through the first 2.0 innings with four strikeouts. Jake Burcham closed out the 9th inning for St. Cloud in his 8th appearance, getting his first career save. Burcham has 10.1 innings pitched this season with a 2.61 ERA and eight strikeouts.

The Rox return to the Rock Pile tomorrow, Sunday, June 18th, for a 4:05 pm first pitch against the Bismarck Larks. The 18th is Father’s Day!
