LA CROSSE, WI – The St. Cloud Rox (37-23) dropped game two of a two-game series against the La Crosse Loggers (34-26) with a 5-4 final score, Friday, August 4th. The Rox hold one of the top records across the Northwoods League this season.

The starting pitcher for St. Cloud was Connor Wietgrefe. Wietgrefe made his 2nd start and 5th appearance for St. Cloud, pitching 6.0 innings, giving up just one run while striking out nine batters, a career high. Wietgrefe has a 2.89 ERA and 31 strikeouts to just six walks over 18.2 innings pitched this season.

Oscar Serratos had a home run and two RBI in the 2nd game of the series. Serratos has a .327 batting average and 10 RBI over 11 games this season. Sawyer Smith had three singles in four at-bats for St. Cloud. Smith has reached base in nine straight games. Jackson Hauge had two hits and a run scored, his 20th multi-hit game of the season.

Ronaldo Fernandez made his debut for St. Cloud, with two strikeouts in the 7th inning. Brooks Ey also made his debut, working through 0.2 innings. Brady Posch made his 9th appearance with 0.1 innings pitched. Jake Burcham worked the final out of the 8th inning.

The Rox start a new series tomorrow, Saturday, August 5th with a 6:35 first pitch against the Bismarck Larks. Th­e Rox return home on Tuesday, August 8th for a 6:35 pm first pitch against the Duluth Huskies! It will be Mental Health Awareness Night, presented by Newport Healthcare!
