ST. CLOUD, MN – The St. Cloud Rox (43-28) fell 4-0 to the Willmar Stingers (38-34) on Monday in game two of the best-of-three series, and will play game three at 6:35 PM on Tuesday at Joe Faber Field. You can purchase tickets to game three here.
The game started as a true pitchers’ duel, going scoreless through the first five innings.
Manning West (University of Kansas) started on the mound for the Rox and shut out the Stingers for the first five innings. West ended the day with six strikeouts to just one walk allowed.
Levi Nyberg (American River CC) took over for West in the eighth inning and pitched the final two scoreless innings.
Offensively, Brett Griffiths (Ball State University) recorded a triple in the fourth inning and ended with two hits on the day.
The Rox put two runners on base in the bottom of the ninth, but the rally fell just short.
St. Cloud earned home-field advantage in the series by posting the best win percentage in the Great Plains West during the regular season, meaning game three will be at 6:35 PM on Tuesday at Joe Faber Field.
The All-Star Trophy and Awards Star of the Game is Manning West.
