ST. CLOUD, MN – The St. Cloud Rox (44-28) defeated the Willmar Stingers (38-35) 10-9 on Tuesday to punch their ticket to the Great Plains Championship Game.

With the win, the Rox travel to Eau Claire on Wednesday, August 12th, to face the Express at 6:35 PM for a spot in the Northwoods League Championship.

The Rox offense jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first, with Brett White (University of Iowa) driving home two on a double and Jackson Legg (Georgia Gwinnett College) bringing in another with a sacrifice fly.

Trailing by one in the fourth inning, Legg smashed the ball over the wall in right field to even the game at 4-4. 

Colton Rother (University of Kansas) broke the tie in the bottom of the fifth with a two-run double, and Legg added another with an RBI double to give the Rox a 7-4 lead. 

Legg recorded his third hit of the day with an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to make the score 9-5 in favor of the Rox.

The game reached a tie again in the seventh inning, staying at 9-9 until the ninth inning. 

JR Tollett (University of Louisiana-Lafayette) took the mound for the Rox in the top of the ninth and was able to get three outs to give the bats a chance to win the game.

Kaden Amundson (Arkansas State University) led off the bottom of the ninth inning with a single and advanced all the way to third base on an error by the Stingers defense. With only one out, Aidan Mouton (University of Kansas) lifted the ball into right field. 

After a catch was made, Amundson ran home on the sacrifice fly to secure the 10-9 victory and a spot in the Great Plains Championship Game against the Eau Claire Express on Wednesday. 

The All-Star Trophy and Awards Star of the Game is Jackson Legg.

The 2026 season is presented by Eide Chrysler St. Cloud.
