St. Cloud — The Rox continue to find their groove. Simply put, their pitching staff has dominated the Northwoods League through 10 games. They have more strikeouts than any other team, and after tonight own the lowest ERA at 2.03. They have consistently silenced opponent's offenses and it has translated in the left hand column.
Assistant Coach and two-time World Series Champion Al Newman prides on always putting your left hand in the team huddle or if you raise to toast your water bottle after another W. Well, the winning culture over the past two years has continued for STC.
Dom Austing (St. Cloud State) got his first win this summer after 5 innings of 4 hit baseball, and also struck out 4 Loggers. Bailey Hansen (Pacific) and John Matthews (Kent State) finished off La Crosse, only giving up two walks and no hits. It marks the second time St. Cloud has won a shutout, dating back to last Thursday's 12-0 romp of Rochester.
Drew Avans (Southeast Louisiana) led off for the Rox in his first appearance this season. He got off to about as good as a start as you can get to after he hit a lead-off home run in the bottom of the 1st inning. STC added two runs in the 5th following a bases loaded walk to Luke RInghofer (South Dakota State). Avans came around to score again after Cameron Eden (California) grounded into a fielder's choice.
The offense was enough on another dominant day on the mound in the Granite City. Over the last 25 innings, the entire team has allowed only 1 run. The Rox stay atop the North following the win, and look to separate themselves even more with the second place Bucks coming to Faber Field Friday and Saturday.
Tomorrow's promotion is Friday Night Fireworks presented by Kwik Trip. On Saturday, it's a Rox Pint Glass Giveaway for the first 500 fans 21 and older in attendance sponsored by Miller Lite. First pitch tomorrow night is set for 7:05 PM and Saturday on 6:05. You can look for tickets online at stcloudrox.com, or call our ticket office open weekdays starting at 10 AM.

Tonight's Player(s) of the Night goes to a deserving Rox pitching staff. Austing, Hansen and Matthews combined for the shutout win. The three 4 hits and 4 walks through 9 innings for the 6th consecutive Rox win.
