Rochester, MN — The Rox (18-9) had a long week to say the least. After trips to Bismarck, Willmar, Thunder Bay and Rochester today, St. Cloud can finally head home. The Rox fell 10-8 in a high scoring affair that featured 9 home runs at Mayo FieldThey finished their road trip 4-2, and still remain near the top of the North Division with 9 games left in the 1st half. They fall 1.5 games behind the leader Waterloo Bucks.

The Rox offense started off well, and even finished the game with another solid game at the plate. For the 4th time this week, they had at least 14 hits in a game and today set a new season high. The Rox hit three home runs and totaled 15 hits Sunday, making it now seven dingers and 29 hits in two games in Rochester. Matt Tarantino (Pacific) hit his 4th homer, while Ricardo Sanchez (Arkansas-Pine Bluff) and Brad Mathiowetz (Florida Atlantic) hit their 1st ones of the season. 

Mathiowetz hit a three-run shot with two outs in the 9th to make it 10-8, but that was the last of the game for St. Cloud as they would strike out to end the game.

Tarantino finished with another solid performance. He ended today with three hits, making it his 9th time in the last 13 games he has had two or more hits in a game. Cameron Eden (Cal) also tallied three hits, while Keaton Kringlen (BYU), Angelo Altavilla (Nebraska), Mason Mamarella (Kent State) and Mathiowitz all had two.

Altavilla started the 9th inning rally with a double that scored two runs. It preceded the home run two batters later for the Rox.

St. Cloud returns home tomorrow for Faith in Action Night! First pitch is at 7:05 PM against the Honkers and there will be a pregame youth baseball and softball clinic presented by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, YMCA and Northland Capital Financial Services. It is also our 1st Military Monday this season! The 1st 75 active military members or veterans with a valid ID or military discharge papers will receive a free Rox hat, with the purchase of a reserve ticket.
