In a full nine-game slate of Northwoods League action on Friday night, the fans were treated with another impressive day of pitching, as three teams completed shutout victories, including Mankato, Kalamazoo and Willmar. The teams who failed to score runs included Battle Creek, Kenosha and La Crosse.

Rockford 4, Lakeshore 1

The Rockford Rivets received a big-time performance from their pitcher in a 4-1 victory over the Lakeshore Chinooks at home on Friday night. Drake Robison (Iowa) threw 7 1/3 innings, as he picked up the win and allowed one run on five hits and two walks with five strikeouts. Jacob Ruder (Cowley) came in and threw the final 1 2/3 innings with one strikeout. On the other side, Lakeshore starter Keenan Bartlett (Richmond) threw a complete game with eight innings thrown and allowed four runs on four hits and a walk with 12 strikeouts in the loss.

Eau Claire 15, Duluth 3

The Eau Claire Express offense had an incredible night at the plate, as they pounded out 22 hits in a 15-3 victory over the Duluth Huskies. Every batter in the Eau Claire lineup recorded at least one hit, and seven finished with multiple hits. Second baseman Kyle Marinconz (Cal Poly) hit 5-for-6 at the plate with three runs scored and a RBI. Shortstop Cody Bohanek (UIC) hit 3-for-5 with two runs scored and knocked in five runs. Brody Rodnig (Mankato) earned the victory, as he allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk with two strikeouts.

Mankato 2, Battle Creek 0

The Mankato MoonDogs shut out the Battle Creek Bombers 2-0 on Friday night at home. Mankato scored a run in the top of the first and another in the second, which was enough scoring for the victory. Jordan Kozicky (Minnesota) hit 2-for-3 at the plate with a walk and a run scored. Chase Hamilton (Austin Peay) hit a sacrifice fly to open up the scoring in the first. Reece Eddins (Nebraska) threw six scoreless innings and allowed four hits and three walks with a strikeout. Brick Paskiewicz (Grand Canyon) threw two scoreless innings to pick up the save.

Kalamazoo 4, Kenosha 0

The Kalamazoo Growlers kept the Kenosha Kingfish scoreless in a 4-0 victory on the road Friday night. Kalamazoo catcher Nick Hutchins (Southern Illinois) knocked in two runs with a single to begin the scoring in the top of the first inning, and the Growlers scored again in the third and once more in the top of the ninth to make it a four-run deficit. Starter Trey Ganns (Northern Kentucky) threw seven shutout innings and allowed seven runs and a walk with five strikeouts. Kalamazoo recorded 12 hits in the game, and leadoff hitter Connor Smith (Western Michigan) finished 4-for-5 with a run scored.

Wisconsin 7, Madison 2

The Wisconsin Woodchucks jumped out to a 4-0 lead after three innings and defeated the Madison Mallards 3-2 on Friday night on the road. Wisconsin starter Devin Skapura (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) pitched eight innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and two walks with six strikeouts to pick up the win. Shortstop Connor Heady (University of Kentucky) finished 2-for-3 at the plate with two walks, two RBI and a run scored for the Woodchucks. Steven Mangrum (Virginia Tech) reached base three times with two hits and a walk with three runs batted in.

Willmar 6, La Crosse 0

The Willmar Stingers hit a pair of home runs and shut out the La Crosse Loggers 6-0 on the road. After five scoreless innings to begin the game, Willmar first baseman Travis Wacker (Oklahoma State) hit a solo home run to begin the sixth. After another run was scored in the inning, Eddie Estrada (Minnesota) connected on a two-run home run to make it a 4-0 game. The Stingers scored two more in the top of the seventh to extend their lead to six. On the mound, Blake Stockert (North Dakota State) threw six scoreless innings and allowed three hits and a walk with four strikeouts.

Wisconsin Rapids 10, Green Bay 5

The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters were aggressive at the plate, as they finished with 15 hits in a 10-5 victory over the Green Bay Bullfrogs on the road. Rightfielder Doak Dozier (Virginia) hit 3-for-4 at the plate with a walk, two runs scored and a RBI. Rafters' shortstop and leadoff batter Demetrius Sims (Bethune-Cookman) reached base four times with three hits and a walk with a pair of runs scored. Calvin Giese (St. Cloud State) threw five innings for the Rafters and picked up the win, allowing three runs on five hits and five walks with a strikeout to pick up the win.

St. Cloud 15, Rochester 5

The St. Cloud Rox recorded 20 hits and defeated the Rochester Honkers 15-5 in a road victory on Friday night. Seven batters in the St. Cloud starting lineup recorded multiple hits, including designated hitter Michael Strem (Boston College), who finished 4-for-5 at the plate with a walk, four runs scored, three RBI and a home run. Shortstop Brett Pope (Western Carolina University) hit 3-for-5 with a walk, three RBI and a pair of runs scored for the Rox. Chris Martin (Kent State University) picked up the win in 1 1/3 innings of relief in which he did not allow a run and struck out two.

Thunder Bay 6, Waterloo 3

The Thunder Bay Border Cats put up five runs in the bottom of the second inning, and the Waterloo Bucks were never able to recover in a 6-3 Thunder Bay victory at home. Waterloo scored first in the second with a solo home run hit by Jack Hand (Southern Illinois University). Thunder Bay answered right back with a pair of RBI singles to take a 2-1 lead, which was followed by a three-run homer from leftfielder Shane Shepard (North Carolina State) for the fifth run of the inning. Gunnar Kay (Jefferson College) threw six innings in the win and allowed one run on six hits and four walks with eight strikeouts.
