Summer internships will start in May. Interns will learn the ins and outs of a full baseball season and get the opportunity to work in all aspects of the business (ticket sales, marketing, media, game day preparation and entertainment, etc). We’re seeking energetic, driven individuals who are looking to advance their careers in the sports industry. Ballpark Operations Manager

Bismarck Baseball is offering an opportunity for current college level students looking to gain real world Ballpark Operations experience to position themselves for a career in the sports industry upon graduation.

Description of Responsibilities (Each Ballpark Operations Manager will be responsible for the oversight of specific concessions locations. Responsibilities include but are not limited to):

  • Concessions location oversight
  • Assist in management of Ballpark Operations interns (will be assigned 1 or 2 interns for the season)
  • Assist with Game Day Staff/Concession Employee Management
  • Food & beverage inventory & tracking for assigned areas
  • Assist with food & beverage re-orders
  • Assist with scheduling & payroll of concessions employees
  • Food & beverage wast management & tracking
  • Ensure food quality control
  • Assist with the quality control of ballpark cleaning and maintenance, including preemptive maintenance

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Availability to work all games and events

Clubhouse Manager

The Bismarck Larks are offering an opportunity for current college level students looking to gain real world Clubhouse Management experience to position themselves for a career in the sports industry upon graduation.

Description of Responsibilities:

  • The majority of the time, the clubhouse provides the focal point of a baseball club. It often determines the way a player develops and the level of success he has both on and off the field. A well managed clubhouse offers a multi-functional facility, from providing a meeting room to acting as a second home to the players. Over the past few seasons, the prospective outlook on the clubhouse manager position has changed. It is a vital role of the clubhouse manager to provide maximum customer service to players, coaches, team personnel, umpires, league officials, and special entertainment acts such as the mascot.

Pre-Season Clubhouse Responsibilities:

  • Equipment inventory
  • Uniform inventory
  • Cleaning & organization (coach locker room, player locker room, umpire locker room, bathrooms, showers, laundry room, washers, dryers, dugouts, batting cage area)

Game Day Responsibilities:

  • Equipment inventory
  • Laundry: Home & Visiting team (personals, uniforms, towels)
  • Clubhouse Cleaning: Home & Visiting team (tables, garbage cans, dugouts, water/Gatorade jugs, coach office) (cleaning crew will clean bathrooms, showers, and locker room floors)
  • Equipment: Issue any necessary equipment to players (keep records), bring umpires game balls, fill water coolers for both teams (equipment inventory sheets will be provided and should be filled out for any equipment given to players. Sheets should be kept on file for future reference.)
  • Food: Home, Visiting, & Umpires: It is the clubhouse manager’s responsibility to pick up post game meal from a pre-determined sponsor for the home & visiting team. Post game meal for the umpires is from the concession stand and should be ready in their locker room before the end of the game.

Post Game Responsibilities:

  • General cleaning the locker rooms
  • Take both team and umpire meals to locker rooms or pre-determined eating location
  • Collect laundry (uniforms & towels) from locker room and begin for following day
  • Equipment pickup and storage
  • Any other request made by front office personnel

Post-Season Responsibilities:

  • Collect equipment and complete inventory of collected items
  • Collect uniforms and complete inventory of collected items
  • Cleaning & organization (coach locker room, player locker room, umpire locker room, bathrooms, showers, laundry room, washers, dryers, dugouts, batting cage area

Culinary Internship

The Bismarck Larks are offering an opportunity for current college level students looking to gain real world culinary and food & beverage experience to position themselves for a career in the sports industry upon graduation. A culinary position with the Bismarck Larks provides an experience that can’t be found anywhere else in the area. This experience will allow you to gain and expand on knowledge in several aspects of the food industry including: quick service, banquet events, high volume catering, special media events and commissary prep.

Description of Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all aspects for smoking BBQ meats including: brisket, pulled pork, ribs, and chicken wings
  • Produce and cook food products in large quantities in an efficient and consistent manner
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation, including complying with all federal, state and local health codes
  • Assist in improving food quality and consistency
  • Operate food preparation equipment
  • Deliver new ideas for recipes and products to the food management team
  • Research ingredients, vendors, equipment, and restaurant and culinary concepts
  • Assist with concessions location oversight
  • Food & beverage inventory & tracking for assigned areas
  • Assist with food & beverage orders

Marketing & Promotions Internship

The Bismarck Larks are offering an opportunity for current college level students looking to gain real world Ballpark Operations experience to position themselves for a career in the sports industry upon graduation.

Description of Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Marketing & Promotions team with daily activities, events and projects
  • Assist with the development and implementation of marketing campaigns to maximize ticket revenue, promote community events and increase brand awareness
  • Assist with the organization and implementation of game night activities at each home game, as well as special game night promotions throughout the season
  • Assist in the execution of all on field mid-inning promotions and fan engagement activities
  • Operation of video cameras
  • All other duties as assigned

Media & Video Production Internship

The Bismarck Larks are offering an opportunity for current college level students looking to gain real world Media/Video Production experience to position themselves for a career in the sports industry upon graduation.

Description of Responsibilities:

Every Bismarck Baseball game will be broadcasted live (audio and video) over the Internet on NorthwoodsLeague.tv, larksbaseball.com through an upgraded hi-definition and extensive 4-camera video production setup. The team will have 36 home games in the regular season, beginning late May through mid-August.

Each four-camera broadcast will include two manually operated cameras and two remote control operated PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) cameras. A PTZ camera will be located both behind home plate and in centerfield while the manually operated cameras will be stationed near first base and third base.

Video/Media interns will be responsible for writing and producing interesting player specific stories during the season. Stories will be posted in game day programs, the team web site, and social media outlets. Video/Media interns are also required to assist the Video Production Director in the making of commercials, conducting player/coach interviews, as-well-as updating the team’s website as needed, utilizing social media, and creating on and off the field stories about the team.

The Bismarck Larks are offering an opportunity for current college level students looking to gain real world Merchandise Management experience to position themselves for a career in the sports industry upon graduation.

Description of Responsibilities:

Pre-Season Responsibilities:

  • Merchandise inventory
  • Merchandise store setup including pre-season cleaning and stocking of items

Game Day Responsibilities:

  • Merchandise store setup and operation
  • Cash handling and credit card transactions
  • End of home stand inventory reports completed and sent to Merchandise Manager

Post Game Responsibilities:

  • General cleaning of merchandise store
  • Merchandise pickup and storage
  • Any other request made by front office personnel

Post Season Responsibilities:

  • Collect merchandise and complete inventory of collected items
  • Cleaning & organization of merchandise stand and storage room

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

Ticket Sales Internship

The Bismarck Larks are offering an opportunity for current college level students looking to gain real world sports sales experience to position themselves for a career in the sports industry upon graduation.

The Ticket Sales Intern will gain knowledge & exposure in areas such as:

  • Sales & Marketing – cold-calling, delivering a sales pitch, closing the sale
  • Database Management – lead generation/prospecting, developing a database
  • Customer Service – answering questions, providing information, diffusing problems
  • Game Day Operations – building customer relationships, over delivering with customers

Description of Responsibilities:

  • Contacting qualified sales leads to generate ticket sales revenue through season ticket, group outings and mini plans
  • Prospecting and creating for new clients in season tickets, groups and hospitality events
  • Handling customer service and ticketing issues
  • Attending/staffing additional outside events (community relations)
  • Work in box office on game nights assisting fans with walk-up sales
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned
