We make a community by what we give.
Since arriving in Bismarck/Mandan three years ago, we’ve found success on and off the field. Our young Larks players have experienced the best of this wonderful community and have responded. We’ve made the play-offs, had numerous All-Stars, have won a mid-season championship and set league attendance records.
We’ve developed close partnerships with community businesses and have worked side-by-side with area non-profits and schools. Our vision of “Fun that Makes a Difference” is supported by the community. You’ve given so much to us and we couldn’t be more grateful.
Sir Winston Churchill famously said, “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give”. We feel Sir Winston’s quote could be amended to “We make a living by what we get, but we make a COMMUNITY by what we give”. This community just keeps on giving.
3.5 Hours, 1,000 Jerseys, 1 AMAZING DONATION.
We want to share an update on the Farmers Union Insurance Larks Jersey Giveaway. We team up each year with Farmers Union Insurance to giveaway 1,000 collectable Larks jersey in exchange for two donated food items. The items are given to the Great Plains Food Bank to assist families in need. The jerseys were only available at Bismarck/Mandan Farmers Union Insurance Agency locations beginning June 26th.
The response was EPIC! All 1,000 jerseys were gone in 3 ½ hours. A monumental 3,574.2 lbs. of food and $479.00 were donated for a total 5,725 meals. Compare that to 2018’s 2,006 lbs. of food and $268.00 for a total 2,476 meals. Oh yeah, fun does make a difference!!
Dave Murphy, Farmers Union Insurance District 4 Manager, is astonished. “To say the jersey food drive was a success is an understatement. We ended up having another manager and a couple of agents deliver the food to one of the food pantries because the barrels were overflowing. Quite honestly, words cannot describe how appreciative they were. They were running out of food and didn’t know what they were going to do until the next food truck arrived in a couple weeks.”
He adds, “Thank you to everyone for making this promotion a great success and making a difference.” We echo those sentiments wholeheartedly. Bismarck/Mandan, you are simply AMAZING!
