Gary “Dinger” Allmendinger has been a Larks Flock Member since our inaugural season in 2017 and is one of the Larks biggest fans. Read more about him as the Larks got the chance to sit down and talk to him:

Who is “Dinger”? What do you do when you’re not at Larks games?

I grew up in the Bismarck/Mandan area and went to Bismarck High School. My love for baseball started at a young age. I played Legion baseball when I was younger. After working for a company for 43 years, I decided to retire. Now I enjoy being a fan versus a player.

What is something about you that not a lot of people know?

I’m a real sports nut. I have a baseball diamond at home and inside I have a ton of memorabilia that I’ve collected over the years. I have a Jeff Gordon autograph, two duplicate World Championship rings from the ‘87 and ‘91

[Minnesota] Twins World Series, and even an autograph from Mohammed Ali when I met him in Las Vegas.

Why did you decide to become a ticket holder with the Larks in 2017?

My wife is a baseball fan too. We both played softball together and when we heard about the Larks we thought it would be something fun to do. I love the smell of the food, the camaraderie and the sound of the baseball hitting the bat. It is beautiful. It’s nice to have a beverage, spit some seeds, and watch baseball — that’s what really got me hooked. The community needed this, we were ready for it.

What’s your favorite part of a Larks game?

I love the games in-between innings. There’s always entertainment happening. For the price — I think it’s the best ticket in town, without a doubt. There’s something for kids, for adults, or even the grandpas and grandmas.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

I would go to a baseball game year-round. It’s my favorite sport and I would love to be a part of it every single day.

What does it mean to be a part of the Larks community?

I take pride in telling people that I’m a Larks fan and rocking Larks gear. Where else are you going to spend your money? You get supper, high-power entertainment, and best of all, baseball. It doesn’t get much better than that.
