Here are some of the final roster moves involving NWL alumni coming in this weekend.

RHP Chris Jakubauskas (St. Cloud, ’99) has earned an opening-day roster spot with the Seattle Mariners and will begin the season in the bullpen. Much of his success in spring training came as a starter so he’d likely be a candidate to fill in should a spot open in the Mariners starting rotation.

Los Angeles Dodgers RHP Jeff Weaver (Dubuque, ’95) did not make the opening day roster even though just a few days ago it was expected that he would. Instead he was reassigned to minor league camp. He’ll either have to accept the assignment or become a free agent.

The Oakland A’s optioned 3B Jack Hannahan (Mankato, ’99) to Triple-A. With a healthy Eric Chavez and newly acquired Nomar Garciaparra on the roster there was no longer a spot for Hannahan who was the everyday third baseman for the A’s in 2008.

Los Angeles Angels RHP Fernando Rodriguez (Duluth, ’03) has been reassigned to minor league camp after performing very well this spring.
