Waterloo, IA – The Waterloo Bucks have announced that pitcher Jared Wagoner will return to play for the Bucks in 2010.  Currently a junior at Butler University, Wagoner is the second player to be signed by Waterloo for the upcoming season.

Last season for the Bucks, Wagoner appeared in 17 games, starting nine.  The right-handed pitcher finished the season with a 1-6 record, a 4.95 ERA, and 32 strikeouts.

The Vincennes, Indiana native led his collegiate team in ERA last spring with a 5.59 mark.  Wagoner appeared in 17 games for Butler, striking out 46 while walking just 22.  For his efforts, Wagoner was named his team’s co-pitcher of the year.  During his freshman year for the Bulldogs, Wagoner led his team in appearances with 17, all in relief, and finished the season with 18 strikeouts and just 10 walks.

Bucks’ Manager Jason Nell is believes Wagoner’s return to the Bucks is an important piece to the puzzle.

“Jared is a durable strike thrower who competes and knows how to get guys out,” said Nell.  “He can either start or be a bullpen guy for us as his experience as an upper classman is very valuable.”

The 6’2″, 185-pound hurler was a two-year member of the all-conference team and three-year member of the all-area squad at South Knox High School in Vincennes, Indiana.  Born on January 7, 1989, Jared is the son of Dean and Linda Wagoner.

Then Bucks will open the 2010 season at home on Wednesday, June 2 at 6:35 pm versus Wisconsin Rapids.  Season tickets and single-game tickets are currently on sale.  Fans are encouraged to stay in touch with the Bucks in the off-season by utilizing their website at www.waterloobucks.com.
