(Thunder Bay, ON) The Thunder Bay Border Cats announced today the signing of seven players, raising the 2010 roster to 23. Joining the two-time NWL Champions are outfielders Tyler Pryor and Ken Battison, infielders Trevor Gee and Brett Doe, catcher Taylor Honeycutt, and pitchers Jorge Rodriguez and Zak Miller.
Pryor, a 5’10”, 160 pound junior from Fresno, CA plays his collegiate ball in his hometown at Fresno Pacific University. The left-handed hitting outfielder has played 48 games this season and is batting .439 with eight home runs and 50 runs batted in. Pryor, who was recently named to the Golden State all conference team leads the Sunbirds in batting average and doubles with 21.
Battison is a 6’0″, 210 pounder from West Milton, OH and is a junior at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, MI. In 44 games this season, Battison is batting .274 with four home runs and 21 RBI’s. He also leads the club with nine stolen bases.
Honeycutt is a junior from Indian Trail, NC and plays in his home state at Wingate University. The 6’2″, 185 pound backstop has played in 41 games this season and is hitting .179 with three home runs and 19 runs batted in.
Gee hails from Glendale, CA and is a sophomore at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. The 6’0″, 200 pound utility infielder has played in 13 games for the Lions and is batting .162 with three RBI’s.
Rodriguez is a 6’0″, 180 pound lefthander from Duncanville, TX. and is currently in his freshman season at Seminole State College in Oklahoma. Rodriguez has appeared in 15 games this spring where he has a 0-0 record with three saves and a 6.88 earned run average.
Miller is the sixth Canadian born player to sign with the Cats. The 6’3″, 200 pound righthander is a native of Surrey, BC.
Doe is a 5’11, 170 pound shortstop from Mesquite, TX. Miller and Doe are both redshirt freshman at the University of New Mexico.
