(Waterloo, IA) The Waterloo Bucks have announced the signing of left-handed pitcher Greg Williams for the 2010 season.  Currently, Williams is a sophomore at Marshall University majoring in Accounting.

This season for the Thundering Herd, Williams has not played due the rehabilitation of an injury, but is scheduled be ready for the start of the Bucks’ season.  In the 2009 season for Marshall, Williams started in 7 of the 14 games he appeared in.  The Cincinnati, Ohio native totaled 44.2 innings with 38 strikeouts and a 2-5 record.

“I’m looking forward to playing with the Bucks this season,” says Williams.  “I have heard nothing but great things about the Northwoods League, as well as the city of Waterloo.  I’m excited for the season to start.”

A graduate of Archbishop Moeller in West Chester, Ohio, Williams was drafted in the 31st round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays. He finished his high school career with the programs’ lowest single-season ERA and finished in top 10 for wins, ERA and shutouts. After high school Williams played one year of summer baseball for the Midland Redskins and was a member of the Midwest Redbirds Fall Scout Team.

The Bucks will open the 2010 season at home on Wednesday, June 2 at 6:35 pm versus Wisconsin Rapids.  Season tickets and single-game tickets are currently on sale.  Fans are encouraged to stay in touch with the Bucks in the off-season by utilizing their website at www.waterloobucks.com.
