In an effort to spice up the team’s on-field promotional rotation, the Madison Mallards have extended an offer to fans to submit ideas for a new promotion that will begin Thursday, July 22 after a winner is chosen through an online vote at Mallardsbaseball.com.

Fans can submit ideas by emailing Mallards’ PR Manager Jerrad Radocay at Jerrad@mallardsbaseball.com . Emails should include an “official” name of the promotion along with a brief description.

The top five most creative and entertaining on-field promotional ideas will be chosen by the Mallards’ marketing staff on July 9, and a fan vote will follow until July 21, the date when the winner is announced both on Mallardsbaseball.com. Also, during the Mallards brief home-stand from July 14 to July 15, all five on-field promotion finalists will be shown once as a sneak-peak between-innings to give fans a better taste of whether it falls in the “funny” category, or in the “not so funny” category.

Ideas do not have to be geared to a specific age group, but on-field promotions that are geared towards all ages will have a better chance at being one of the five finalists. On-field promotions should not last longer than 90 seconds.

Examples of current Mallards’ on-field promotions include the Dizzy Bat Spin Race (two participants spin ten times and try to run in a straight line towards the mascot), the T-Ball Challenge (one kid hits a ball off a tee and runs the bases, avoiding getting out), and the Ducks of Hazard race (two children are pulled in mini-race cars by mascots from first base to third base).
