Rafters Field Manager Scott Laverty, who guided the inaugural season franchise in 2010, has announced his resignation, effective immediately.

“It is with an extremely heavy heart that I must announce my resignation as field manager of the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. In one short summer, Rapids became a second home to me and I am disappointed that I will not be returning in 2011. Positive circumstances with my current position in California prompted this change. Because of these changes, and after much deliberation with Liz Kern and Vern Stenman, we decided it would be best for the Rafters if I step down. We have worked hard to put together a terrific roster and it will be an exciting summer at Witter Field. Liz and Vern will bring in a new manager that will continue to make you proud to have the Rafters in Wisconsin Rapids. I want to thank all of the fans for making Rapids such a special place for me and I look forward to the day that I come back to Wisconsin Rapids again.”

The Rafters front office has already started a nation-wide search for a replacement for Laverty and hope to announce a new field manager at the team’s First Pitch event scheduled for next Tuesday, April 26th at Historic Witter Field. The First Pitch will be invite only for members of the Solarus Founders Club, Element Mobile Home Plate Club, Season Ticket Holders, and Host Families. Gates for the First Pitch will open at 6:05 p.m. and the event will commence at 7:00 p.m.
