The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters of the Northwoods League are pleased to announce the recent addition of Nathan Barnett as the new radio voice of the team for its third season. He will take the place of JW Cox, who had been the broadcast voice for the Rafters in the club’s first two campaigns.

In addition to calling all 70 Rafters games on WFHR (1320 AM) with all home games additionally simulcast on nwltickets.com, Barnett will act as the team’s traveling secretary and media relations coordinator, while assisting with additional video, audio, and graphic projects.

“I am thrilled to join the Rafters family and, just as importantly, the community of Wisconsin Rapids,” Barnett said of taking the position.

Last summer, Barnett held play-by-play, color-commentary, and media relations duties with the Palm Springs POWER, a collegiate summer league team out of the Southern California Collegiate Baseball League.

Barnett, a native of Texas, spent that last four years in Southern California where he attended Pomona College, a small liberal arts college in the town of Claremont, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Politics. He established the college’s sports broadcasting program and served as the primary voice of the men’s and women’s basketball teams and the baseball team.

In his free time, Barnett enjoys learning new skills, pondering philosophical questions, and cheering on his Texas Rangers.
